Secunderabad - 500 015.

Took an Air India Flight from Hyderabad to London on the morning of 13 Mar 2014, with change over from Domestic to International Flight at Delhi. Reached London in the evening. After a Day's rest, decided to visit Rickmansworth Aquadrome Nature Reserve on 15 Mar 2014. The day was very sunny and ideal for a family picnic.

The entire family consisting of my three daughters, sons - in - law, my grandson and mother - in - law, set out from my elder daughter's home in Rayners Lane, Harrow in three cars at 0900h and reached the park at 0945h. It was a beautiful park with lakes, Lawns and thick wood and we thoroughly enjoyed the outing.

Rickmansworth Aquadrome Nature Reserve

Rickmansworth Aquadrome Local Nature Reserve is located in the heart of Rickmansworth. The 41 hectare site is comprised of land, water, woodland and landscaped park and is an ideal place for walks and picnics. The site has two of the lakes which form a series running from Rickmansworth through to Staines. The lakes cover around 24 hectares of the site and were formed through gravel extraction which ceased in the 1920s. After being privately owned and later used for army exercises the site then came under Council ownership in 1960 and it now provides a variety of opportunities for formal and informal recreational activities. The Aquadrome is important for wildlife. For example, there are areas of wet woodland which has declined nationally. The Aquadrome is also home to nationally notable beetles and is important for birds. In addition to the wildlife value of the Aquadrome various community groups utilise the area. The smaller of the two lakes, Batchworth Lake, is home to a waterski club and is fished throughout the year. Next door, Bury Lake, is used for sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, sailing model yachts and canoeing. A popular children's play area is located next to Batchworth Lake. The Aquadrome is open 365 days a year and there is no admission charge. Since being designated as a Local Nature Reserve in 2007 the site has gone from strength to strength.
